Parks Victoria's Wilderness Retreats

Conrans Rereats are a new and unique camping experience for visitors. They give an opportunity to immerse in nature while staying in unique, contemporary and comfortable safari-style tents.

The retreats combines the "close to nature" experience of bush camping with some of the comforts of modern park cabins. With bedding and linen provided and shared fully equipped kitchen, toilet and shower amenities, all you have to pack are your personal needs and food.

A minimum booking of just two nights, gives visitors a tast of an easier style of camping. Note: minimum bookings of a week applies in January.

Wilderness Retreats have a lockable door and contain a:

• queen size bed and 2 bed side tables

• blanket box and a towel rack

• trundle single bed (located under the queen size bed)

• futon chair that converts to a single bed

• small fridge

• table and chairs inside and on the deck

• lights inside and on the Retreat deck

 All bed linen (including warm doonas and blankets) and towels are provided, and a clean and well lit toilet and shower facility is close by. No smoking is permitted inside Wilderness Retreats.

 There is a conveniently located car park for Wilderness Retreat guests, and a luggage trolley is available at the car park to assist with the short walk to your tent. To preserve the experience for all guests, and to enable wildlife to roam around the area, no cars are permitted. 

The well equipped communal kitchen (for Wilderness Retreat guests only) contains cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils and includes:

• stainless steel benches and sinks (tea towels are supplied)

• a gas cook top

• a full size fridge

• hot and cold water

• a microwave oven and a toaster

Remember to bring your own food and drinks

As well as bringing a sense of adventure, to make your experience enjoyable, please bring with you:

• personal toiletries and medications

• warm clothes (there are no heaters)

• comfortable shoes

• a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses

• a torch

• insect repellent

Services Available

Continental breakfast basket is available – please enquire when making your booking. East Gippsland offers guests a range of quality food and wine products, which can be purchased on the way and enjoyed during your stay.

There is no drinking water at Cape Conran (there is a complimentary bottle of drinking water is in your Wilderness Retreat fridge). Extra bottled water can be purchased from the Cape Conran park office.

Activities

The Cape Conran Wilderness Retreats are sensitively set in an area which is home to a number of rare and endangered animals, such as potoroos, bandicoots, gliders and more. Park staff are happy to help visitors explore and experience the environment. Surf lessons can be organized for groups.

Cape Conran has many kilometres of walking tracks through beautiful coastal forests and many kilometres of beach, staff can advise visitors on self drive tours to local attractions such as ancient rainforest, listed local aboriginal sites and pristine rivers of international importance.
